Liam Maxwell: Low tax and flexible IT

Liam Maxwell sprak op het jaarcongres van Nederland Open in Verbinding (NOiV) over de ontwikkeling van nieuwe ideeën rond het effectief aanbieden van openbare diensten met behulp van ICT. Hij is raadslid van het Graafschap van Windsor & Maidenhead en als zodanig verantwoordelijk voor de ICT portefeuille. Hij is aangewezen door de Prime Minister van Engeland om het voortouw te nemen bij de uitrol van zijn Big Society Programme: “We are, in many ways, a government lab - a beta site for new initiatives from environmental management to adult social care to education and the delivery of libraries.“
"We are Conservative, we believe in low tax. Residents - especially the elderly - need a low council tax and we have cut our tax by more than any authority outside London has ever done. We have achieved this not through cuts but by doing things differently. At the core of our approach is flexible IT. We believe in open standards and we are creating a level playing field for open source in our operations. This approach resonates through our delivery of all levels of public services.”, aldus Liam Maxwell.
